The Cursed Box is an escape-room style puzzle game with one evil artefact at the core! It’s a combination of genuine physics-based mechanics and supernatural terror.
In the center of a dimly lighted room is a cursed wooden box. Each side of the box has intricate gear systems, combination locks, and secret mechanical contraptions. You need to break through each layer of seals to get to the core. As you do so you are under increasing psychological pressure from supernatural happenings and hallucinations that increase in intensity the further you go.
Close observation: Use the camera zoom tool to closely inspect the fractures, hidden symbols or weird gaps on the wooden surface.
Physical interaction: Interact with components by pulling, rotating, flipping and sliding them in accordance with their underlying logic. The game doesn't reward mindless clicking or guess-and-check.
Connect the dots: Write down symbols, colour sequences or numbers seen in one compartment; they typically function as keys to release mechanisms on other sides of the box.
Start with the side that has the most exposed metal parts or moving tracks. Surfaces that look smooth and featureless are frequently saved until the last puzzles.
When you hear a low, muted “click” as you twist the combination dials, your components are positioned perfectly. Turn a blind eye to the creepy ghostly sounds and listen to the sounds of wood and metal.
Try to keep the camera at a 45 degree diagonal. That way when you activate a mechanism that affects other sides of the box, you can see at least two sides changing at once.
