Some mannequins in the game only move when you aren't looking at them. You must constantly turn your back to gather items, then quickly turn around to check if they are closing in on you.
Once the entities fully awaken, combat is impossible. You must duck into wardrobes or fitting rooms and remain absolutely silent until they leave.
