During the first few nights, your task is to memorize the hospital's normal appearance, layout, and sounds. The number of incubators, the expressions of the cats and dogs, the placement of medical instruments—commit it all to memory.
Once the shift truly begins, anomalies will start appearing in your surroundings. A cat might suddenly sprout a third eye, an X-ray might reveal monstrous internal organs, or an operating room door might fly open on its own.
You cannot simply run away when you spot an anomaly. Depending on the game mechanics, you must use radios, cameras, or specialized equipment to mark and "cleanse" the anomaly before it spirals out of control.
You must survive 99 shifts. Miss too many anomalies or target the wrong thing, and a malevolent entity will completely overrun the hospital—and finish you off.
Surviving a few nights is a stroke of luck, but reaching the 99th night requires a sharp scanning strategy.
Don't be complacent during the early nights. Divide the hospital into smaller zones and memorize every static detail, such as the number of chairs or the placement of potted plants.
